Seafront House Renovation // Bracklesham Bay

BRIEF

This 4 bedroom seafront house is undergoing a makeover this year. Down the line there is more work planned but for now we are modernising and smartening it up for family living. This is an 8-week project from start to finish.

Here are some of the changes we will be making:

  • remove cornices
  • plaster ceilings
  • change skirting, architraves, and internal doors
  • re-tile all bathrooms and plaster where needed
  • sanding the pine floor and staining
  • new lighting and switches throughout
  • new curtain poles

START OF PROJECT

  • Situated on the seafront, phase 2 of this project in a few years time will add a large extension and full width balcony across the front

  • Throughout the house the lighting and switches are all being replaced
  • The good quality pine floor will be sanded back and stained

  • All bathrooms are being re-tiled
  • In the kitchen we will be fitting a new worktop
  • The rooms at the front of the house had decorative beams on the ceilings which we have removed and the rooms have been fully plastered.
  • New skirting boards are being fitted throughout

FINISHED INTERIOR

  • The floor was sanded back, and then gave it 3 coats of a matte varnish
  • In the lounge the new sanded and varnished floor looks great with the the soft colour design palette.
  • The kitchen is a blend of old and new. Newly sanded floor, new handles, existing cabinets, new worktops, new lighting, existing table/chairs. And sea view - timeless!

  • Flush sockets blend into the kitchen splashback tiles
  • Antique style nautical lighting ties the design scheme together
  • Part of the kitchen makeover are these trendy antique brass handles
  • Previously this was an annex but now is the kid zone, complete with comfy sofas, bunk beds and space to play
  • New floor tiles and splashback in the downstairs shower room
  • Our decorating team are amazing - they work tirelessly ensuring everything is finished to perfection
  • Fun feature wall lights for new playroom
  • A glimpse of the sanded/varnished floorboards
  • The whole house has had new wiring and light fittings. We love these feature staircase lights
  • The newly laid blue terrazzo tiles compliment the existing blue tiles
  • Upgrading handles and hardware is a tiny but mighty change
  • Fun terrazzo tiles for the family bathroom
  • Fresh carpets throughout complete the look
  • Each room has new wall colours, freshly painted skirting, new curtain poles, and lighting
  • New terrazzo style large tiles in the ensuite
  • All bathrooms have had a mini makeover with new tiles, fittings & flooring
  • Portholes are a must for seafront houses

COMPLETED GARDEN

  • Situated right on the seafront it was important to use hardwork decking/woodwork throughout for longevity
  • A large hardwood deck now spans the full width of the property
  • Our carpenter Elliot has built a family dining table with two matching benches
  • Modern angles give this custom table and benches a luxury feel
  • Traditional joinery techniques have been used by our carpenter Elliot
  • The bifold kitchen window now opens up onto an outside breakfast bar. This is a perfect serving hatch or simply a brilliant bar for coffees or drinks
  • Wave edge joins give this a seaside look and feel
  • All of the outdoor furniture and structures have been made from teak. Super long lasting, very tough and hard wearing.
  • When using wood for so many areas it is important to mix up the direction of grain to give an overall interesting look
  • The original concrete retaining wall has now been clad in wood with a bench seat built into it
  • This raised platform was already here however we have re-done all the woodwork and decking, added new hand rails, and have built a large set of steps with storage underneath
  • We have repurposed some driftwood sleepers into benches

  • These reclaimed driftwood pieces make excellent benches with some clever joinery
