Garden Room & Kitchen Refit // The Wad, West Wittering

OVERVIEW

To maximise the living space of this bungalow by fitting a new kitchen, installing large sliding doors to open onto the garden, and the extend the decking to lead out to new garden room.

START OF PROJECT

  • The wooden structure is starting to take shape nicely.
  • The garden room triangular room sits tightly into the back of the plot.

ALMOST FINISHED PROJECT

  • We laid a curved composite decking from the main house to link to the garden room.
  • Full width 4m wide bi-fold doors open the space to the garden.
  • The overhang provides shade and also houses some down lights.
  • The new garden room is 27 sq metres and slots snugly into the corner of the plot.

  • It's all about the details - look how nicely the decking and inside parador flooring meets one another.
  • In the furthest corner of the garden is a small cloakroom, all ready to be decorated.
  • Originally there was a small summer house here. What a difference now!
  • There are no windows in this garden room as it was decided to make the bi-folds almost full width.
  • Over in the house we replaced a mid sized window with some patio doors giving the home office some new access.
  • We have fitted large sliding doors from the kitchen onto the new decking area.
  • The doors can open from either end, and almost very large, glide very effortlessly.
  • Inside we have refitted the whole kitchen.
  • Floor to ceiling units create an amazing amount of storage.
  • Top tip: Choosing dark units against a whole wall makes the room seem larger.
  • This large kitchen island houses a hob, storage and breakfast bar area.
  • This room lacked a proper focal point this chimney area has been built to house a wood burning stove.
