OVERVIEW

Our first brief for this property is to redesign the garden creating adult and child zones. And then laster this year we will be tackling the entire house to change the existing layout and create a larger upstairs.

GARDEN BRIEF

  • create a millboard (recycled plastic bottle) decking area around the house
  • design a bbq and bar area
  • add in new bifold windows (with bar underneath)
  • new patio area in corner
  • trampoline to go on an area of artificial grass
  • install a set of monkey bars for the kids
  • widen the driveway allowing for better parking allocation

INSIDE BRIEF

  • New kitchen, with bifold doors, bifold windows with breakfast bar, and large island
  • Relocate staircase for a better layout downstairs and upstairs
  • Knock through into garage and use some of the space for a laundry
  • Fit two new bathrooms downstairs
  • Upstairs there will be fantastic master bedroom with lots of storage in the eves
  • There will be a mini door joining the two kids bedrooms
  • All new plumbing, electrics, windows, extra insulation throughout

START OF PROJECT

  • The driveway will be widened to allow easier and better parking allocation
  • Path leading to new decking area
  • There will be a couple of bi-fold windows going in here with a bar underneath
  • Patio area to connect to the decking wrapping around the house
  • Patio area with artificial grass in the corner to go under trampoline

START OF INSIDE PROJECT

  • Both gables used to be sloping but we have increased the upstairs area by extending one
  • We re-used as many original tiles as possible from the roof
  • A view of the new bifold windows in the kitchen
  • You can see the gap left for the new vellux windows
  • Downstairs the entrance hall new layout is much better
  • Upstairs this is the mini door joining the kids bedrooms. (Yes there is an adult sized door too!)
  • Fresh plaster work in progress for the master bedroom - see the concealed eves storage we are creating
  • This is the inside of the new gable end of the roof - much more space than previously
  • Outside the garden room and decking is ready for spring!
  • Garden rooms are such a good idea to create extra spaces such as offices, sun rooms, or home gyms
  • We are installing a pocket door from the hallway to the kitchen

MID WAY THROUGH PROJECT

  • The new kitchen is taking shape with the units being just installed
  • New lighting and wiring plan throughout

  • Upstairs clever use of the roof space for a bath room with walk in shower and double his & hers sink units

  • The master bedroom is plastered and skirting is being added
  • The new vellux windows have been fitted
  • This is one of the children bedrooms with the cool mini adjoining door. (Yes there is a full size adult one too!)

COMPLETED PROJECT

  • We love the yellow front door. It makes the perfect entrance!
  • The new gable end is blending in well with the rest of the roof

  • there are a few antique copper elements in this house which tie together the scheme nicely
  • colourful stools and accessories make this a bright fun family space
  • this end of the kitchen is the 'business' end of the kitchen with everything you need in this wall block
  • upgrading standard handles is a great way to add another layer of luxury to a kitchen
  • bifold windows open the kitchen onto the garden effortlessly
  • bifold doors open onto the new decking and new garden, linking the spaces well
  • decking wraps around the garden linking the main house with the garden room
  • composite decking is a great choice for coastal locations
  • the garden room is now a home office, gym, and storage space

  • the decking leads to a sun trap patio - a great quiet space for evening drinks
  • sunken stepping stone lead from the garden gate down the side of the house
