Dormer Window, Juliet Balcony and Bathroom // Culimore Road, West Wittering

Overview

This bungalow is quite close to the sea and the existing dormer windows in the loft conversion were not performing well enough for this coastal environment. They were letting water and were not fully insulted, and the small porthole window was not letting in enough light into the space.

Brief

We plan to:

  • refit the bathroom inside loft conversion
  • plaster all the walls in the loft conversion
  • rebuild the dormer window with new struts
  • fully insulate the space
  • fit new windows
  • remove the porthole window and replace with a Juliet balcony with glass balustrade
  • re-clad the exterior with cederal weatherboard, and render the lower half

COMPLETED PROJECT

  • White and grey is a classic seaside colourway. This property now looks really smart and is ready for winter
  • Finished bathroom (in the dormer window)
  • The show cubicle is angled into the dormer. Clever use of space.
  • A floating wash basin and vanity unit is space saving, and creates the illusion of space
  • Large tiles in the bathroom help give the illusion of space
  • Juliet balconys are a great way to let more light into a room with sloping ceilings

  • The exterior has now been rendered, and then clad in cederal weatherboard to keep it insulated and water tight

MID WAY THROUGH PROJECT

  • Cedral cladding is great for coastal environments. A great low maintenance option
  • The new dormer window, complete with full guttering and a freshly felted roof
  • We have cut through and made an aperture for the Juliet Balcony
  • New windows have bene fitter in the dormer
